This collection of block prints is a love letter to the upper Midwest,

my home. The meaning of the project has shifted numerous times

over the course of its completion, still evolving even now. The project

began first as an assertion of my own queer belonging, a personal

attestation to my Midwest roots as a person often left out of

dominant narratives surrounding this part of the world. However, as

the project neared completion, it became clear to me that the work is

bigger than myself and my own story. I offer this collection to you

now as an affirmation that this place belongs to us, the people. As our

communities face mounting violence from an administration set on

sowing chaos, distrust, and brutality, acting with impunity to

relentlessly abuse so many members of our collective home, this

work is for all who, like me, have hope for a better world. Calling

Home is a collection based in belonging, care, and ultimate belief in

this place we call home.
